Lacey Pedigree

Date of Birth - August 18, 2003

We knew from the moment we saw Lacey's wide chest, heavy bone and beautiful color that she was the girl we were looking for.

Lacey matured well and developed a muscular athletic physique.

Lacey is Kae's special girl and loves to travel, go boating, camping and anywhere we go.

Lacey was the first dog we had ever shown. We began showing Lacey when she was 18 months old and she was a much better dog than Bill was a handler. In spite of the handling she received, she won Winner' s Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex the second weekend we took her out (picture on left). The picture on the right is Lacey winning her first Major the following month under Judge Robert Slay!

The show win pictures are not a good way to compare one dog to another. Seeing a dog in the ring with it's competition gives a better idea how one dog compares to other "show dogs" of its breed. This next picture has Lacey second in line with Bill handling her at a set of major shows in Salem, VA, where Lacey won her second of three "major" shows in the summer of 2005!  The show pictures above display a pretty dog. The picture below, showing all the bitches that won their classes in the ring at the same time, allows you to compare the best bitches at a major show. Telling you about Lacey's head, bone, neck, top line etc. does not mean as much as seeing it for yourself, the way the judge is seeing it.

Once Bill began to learn more about handling, winning shows with Lacey was easy. She won six of her last 9 all breed shows to finish her championship. Besides Lacey's conformation attributes, she has outstanding movement. Handlers and breeders have commented that she "looks like she floats around the ring" and "her feet barely touch the ground".

Lacey was not purchased to be a show dog and never wanted to be a show dog. She put up with us having our fun and she performed to please Bill.  Lacey is a loyal pet and an outstanding companion. She loves traveling and playing with Nyx on the farm. Since Lacey finished her Championship in November 2005, we let her get back to a more natural weight for her heavy frame. We took 15 pounds off her to make her look more like the bitches she was competing against. That was her "Super Model" weight (105-107). We are letting her gain some weight back as long as she stays hard. She is now 120 pounds and looks FANTASTIC ! Lacey can carry 120 pounds on a 24" frame because of her tremendous bone, chest and spring of rib. The pictures below are 3 1/2 months since Lacey finished her Championship and we think she is looking healthy and getting more comfortable as the powerful, doggy bitch that she is.  (every body is not meant to be a super model)

We mated Lacey with Nyx in the fall of 2006 and 2007, the puppies were incredible!

Lacey's favorite thing in the world was playing with Nyx.

Lacey went to live with and look after our youngest daughter in 2009, shortly after she married.

Lacey thinks she is retired!  And now She guards the couch most of the time!
